Gulf Projects delivered the approximately 1,750 m² Cotton On Mega fitout at Westfield Manukau, creating a large-format retail store bringing several Cotton On Group brands together within one tenancy.

The project involved a comprehensive retail fitout including the shopfront and folding closure, internal walls and fitting rooms, timber flooring and tiling, feature brick finishes, wall linings, custom joinery, signage, lighting and electrical works, together with the installation of client-supplied retail fixtures.

A standout feature of the project was the custom timber ceiling chord system running across the store. These large feature elements formed an important part of the store design and required an engineered support system incorporating structural supports, tensioned restraints and carefully coordinated fixing points back to the existing building structure. Lighting and other retail elements were then integrated around the ceiling design.

The combination of the store’s scale, feature ceiling, varied finishes, extensive joinery and multiple retail areas made this a detailed and technically involved fitout, requiring close coordination between the architectural design, structural engineering, building services and construction works.
